In the splendid rooms of the Pinacoteca are kept prestigious testimonies of the centuries from 1500 to 1800
Due to the DPCM of 3 November, the diocesan Pinacoteca will be closed until 3 December.
From 16 May 1992, on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Pope Pius IX, the bishop’s palace becomes the seat of the diocesan Art Gallery. In its splendid rooms you can admire works of considerable artistic value, prestigious testimonies of the centuries from 1500 to 1800.
...The most valuable jewel of the collection is Our Lady of the Rosary and Saint Dominic by Federico Barocci (1535-1612), painted between 1588 and 1592 on commission from the Confraternity of the Assumption and the Rosary for the Church of San Rocco. The painting depicts the Madonna supported by some angels holding the Child Jesus with her left hand while with her right hand she holds out the crown of the Rosary to San Domenico.
In the same room you can also admire the Baptism of Christ and the Nativity of Andrea Lilli (1570-1631); the Madonna with Child and Saints Lucia, Francesco and Giovannino by Giovanni Andrea Donducci (1571-1655) called the Mastelletta, Ludovico Carracci’s student and artist particularly attentive to mannerist themes: the Circumcision, late mannerist work of an anonymous of probable cultural area emiliana of the XVII century. The other rooms of the Pinacoteca house a rich collection of paintings from the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. To note the Adoration of the Shepherds (1568) and the Crucifixion with the Madonna and San Giorgio (1585) by Ercole Ramazzani, a student of Lorenzo Lotto and numerous valuable sacred and profane objects, including remarkable pieces of furniture.
