Built to a design by the architect Francesco Maria Ciaraffoni from Ancona between 1784 and 1791, the Palazzo Comunale stands on the site where the Renaissance-style town hall once existed. It’s a remarkable example of neoclassical architecture, with a long loggia overlooking Via del Corso.
...Originally, in addition to public offices, it housed the school, the municipal magistrates’ apartment, the courtroom and the Chapel of the Palace. The imposing staircase leads to the large room dedicated to Arnaldo Ciani, where under the neoclassical ceiling there are portraits of some fellow citizens who have made Corinaldo famous. At the center of the north wall, dominates a wooden bench: it is the seventeenth-century bench of the magistrates, originally housed inside the demolished church of St. Peter.
