Church of the Suffragio

The Church of the Suffrage, built in the XVIII century, the years of economic development of the hill centers of the Marche, has an elegant facade and an ellipsoidal interior and an interesting terracotta floor dating back to the construction of the building and preserves a valuable work by the painter Claudio Ridolfi.

...

The church stands where previously stood a tower of the demolished castle. Founded by the homonymous brotherhood, was erected here by the will of captain Pier Agostino Orlandi who donated part of his own house demolished for this purpose. The works were completed at the end of 1640 and on 6 January the following day the church was solemnly blessed by Don Luigi Brunori, vicar foraneo of Corinaldo. On that date was solemnly placed “a large canvas painting by the famous Claudio Veronese” depicting the Madonna and Child and Saints Francis, Joseph, Thomas Apostle, Nicholas of Tolentino and Andrew Apostle, gift of the same Orlandi. Later demolished, it was rebuilt and reopened to worship in 1779, housing again the beautiful painting of the artist from Verona. The elegant façade, punctuated by columns, capitals and pilasters is in terracotta and ends with a gable crowning. The ellipsoidal interior, with a dome vault with lacunars, in addition to the already mentioned painting, preserves an interesting terracotta floor that reproduces the coffered ceiling.
