Dimora di Campagna
The Capuccio, in the Marche hinterland, is a dwelling outside the walls of Nidastore, Nest of the Goshawk: a falcon-like bird of prey used for hunting in the Middle Ages. Nidastore (11th-12th century) is one of the nine castles in the municipality of Arcevia, in the Middle Ages it was called Rocca Contrada. The origins of the building probably date back to that period, first as a lookout tower, then enlarged around the 14th century to become an ecclesiastical building that housed Capuchin Friars for a long time; hence the name in dialect ‘Il Capuccio’.
When the Papal State began to sell off some of the many properties scattered in the area, the building was bought by the Monti and Doninni family and became a colonial house, later inhabited by what used to be called the Mezzadro: the one who worked the land for the Settler.
Currently, after three years of hard work for a long conservative restoration, the ‘Capuccio’ has become our home, and from the knowledge of its history, the desire was born to be able to make it known to all those who would like to come to the Marche region to experience, through villages and nature, moments of tranquillity and quiet.
We wanted to give the three double rooms names representative of the historical value of the place: Camera del Colono, Camera del Mezzadro and Stalla del Frate.

The restoration of the rooms has taken history into account, highlighting even the oldest traces. The furnishings, simple and essential, have been made from reclaimed materials typical of rural life and allow the imagination of the guest staying here to relive the slow passing of time.
A night within these walls lets you savour the moments of life of those whose work has borne witness to the toil of man.
