De Bombo bridge

Bombo was a brigand in the area who lived by making robberies and robberies. When Bombo disappeared, word spread among the locals that near the bridge of Contrada Coste there was a hidden treasure. The booty lay under a few meters of earth and was the result of his misdeeds; Bombo hid it to make sure nothing was taken from him.

Many deluded, easy-to-earn, thought they were digging to get rich, but the enterprising seekers came across strange phenomena: a pig with a chain dangling around its neck that smelled of sulfur and strange noises in the night.

Over the years, several generations of seekers followed one another, many of them engaged in research, omitting work, impoverishing themselves and leaving behind huge piles of land next to the holes, visible for years.

ATTENTION…treasure was never found. A good connoisseur…

I Sabbioni

On the old road that led in a straight line to Castelleone di Suasa and S. Lorenzo in Campo, past the bridge of Bombo and over the adjacent hill, there are the sabbioni.

The road, at this point, is embedded on a sandstone beach, a few hundred meters long, which gives its name to this stretch bordered by high cliffs of compressed sand.

This path is engraved in the memories of the elders because during the Second World War it was identified as a perfect refuge.

The sandy walls were dug deeply to protect the population from bombing and the work is still visible.

La Canalecchia

From the Latin “Canalicula”: canaletto, small flow of natural or artificial water.

The Canalecchia is an ancient spring, where once the people of the country went to spend hours of leisure in company and to enjoy the coolness in the summer days, considered the fi tta and intricate vegetation of the place.

In addition, the legend is told that, in these places, Santa Barbara saved the population of Barbary stopping the invading army.

The Canalecchia is considered as one of the mythical places of Barbara. For “mythical” a place must be understood that sicamente no longer exists as such but that is found in the memory of the elderly and in their stories.

A significant place for people’s emotions.
