Renaissance building built by Antonio Poccianti, settled in Montenovo and coming from Ragusa (today’s Dubrovnik, Croatia) now belongs to the municipality and is used – for the restored part – as an exhibition hall.
...Of Renaissance forms, with a beautiful sandstone portal, it is a document of the taste and refinement of the Poccianti family, settled in Montenovo and coming from Ragusa (today’s Dubrovnik, Croatia). The building commissioned by Antonio Poccianti, (as attested by the trabeation in white Istrian stone: ANTONIUS DE POCCIANTIBUS SUBLEVAVIT) It was built in 1513 and is embellished on the left side by a characteristic loggia from which it ranges over the valley of Nevola to the hills that slope down to Cesano. The building, now owned by the municipality, is used – for the restored part – as an exhibition hall.
